WRITING COMPETITION
To celebrate the launch of Striker Boy we’re running a national writing competition.
Mental Health
This book is dedicated to the memory of its author Jonny Zucker, who lived with mental health issues for over 20 years.
He brought joy to the lives of thousands. We miss him every day.

Jonny dedicated his whole life to getting kids reading, and worked for many years as a primary school teacher before becoming an author.
Striker Boy was his favourite and most popular story. This special not-for-profit edition is being published in his memory to raise awareness around mental health.
The money we raise for Mind will help to ensure that every person experiencing a mental health issue receives the support and respect they deserve. A fantastic example of that support is the ‘Get Set to Go’ scheme which provides support in the community through sport.
If you need advice or support, contact Mind on 0300 123 3393, or visit www.mind.org.uk.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As a child Jonny Zucker devoured any stories about football and footballers, and was especially influenced by a book called Goalkeepers are Different by Brian Glanville. He set his heart on being a writer and in particular, writing a novel that combined a football story with a thriller plot. Striker Boy is that book. On the path to becoming a writer Jonny has worked as a primary school teacher, FA qualified football coach and stand up comedian., He was an avid Arsenal fan, and even at 40 he hadn’t quite given up hope of making it as a professional footballer. He lived in North London with his wife Fiona, and their three sons.

A NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER
2Simple Ltd are not a print publishing house, this is the first book we have ever printed! We make educational software for primary schools. In 2013 we teamed up with Jonny to launch an online library of original fiction books called ‘Serial Mash’. We loved every minute of working with Jonny and he became a dear friend to all of us. We take comfort in the fact that he lives on through his writing, and continues to inspire children to read for pleasure.
