#EduFootyAid - A national football league for teachers

Following the success of our first #EduFootyAid event in October, which raised over £5,000 for Mind, we are moving ahead with an audacious plan to create a national teachers league.

We want to use football to bring teachers together and build a community. There’s no two-ways about it, teaching is a stressful job and it’s important that teachers look after their mental health. With its combination of camaraderie and exercise football is a win-win for wellbeing.

Join #EduFootyAid

We have divided the country into three regional groups and each team will play one game a term (3 games total). The winners from each region will meet at the end of the school year for a one-day tournament and the chance to be crowned the country’s best teacher team.

Squads are large (20+) because we appreciate people won’t always be able to commit to every game. Currently, the North East and North West have enough players to field a team and we are actively recruiting teachers for all the other areas. It is a mixed gender, age, and ability league, and we welcome anybody who works in a school or educational facility.

Each season we will be fundraising for a chosen charity. Every player in the league fundraises together via our JustGiving page. Our season target is £5,000 which works out at about £20 per player. We’ll send all registered players a fundraising pack with ideas for raising money.
